Description: The Philip Jaisohn Memorial Center (Jaisohn Center) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization established in 1975. Its mission is to promote and fulfill Dr. Philip Jaisohn's ideals of humanity through medical, social, educational, and cultural services for the enhancement of the quality of life in our communities and particularly those of Korean Americans. Dr. Jaisohn was the first Korean to be naturalized in the United States (1890) and the first Korean to receive a medical degree in a Western institution (1892). Founded by 8 volunteer physicians in 1975, Jaisohn Center serves the wider community through its medical center and various community programs. These programs include benefits counseling, case management, interpretation/translation, insurance counseling, senior training & employment, promotion of Korean culture & heritage, health promotion workshops & screenings (free, confidential HIV testing; mammograms; diabetes classes; influenza immunizations for seniors, etc.) and educational classes geared towards seniors. These classes include ESL, citizenship, fitness, and basic computer literacy.

Public Transportation from Temple University:
Take the C bus going North that goes to Cheltenham and Ogontz, not the C-bus going to 11th and Nedro (there are two going northbound). Get off at 66th Avenue stop, right in front of the Wedge Medical Center. Cross the street toward the car dealership. Jaisohn Center is the building to the left of the car dealership.

Take the Broad Street Line going north to the Olney Station. Go up the stairs/escalators to the large bus terminal. From there catch the 55 or 22 (do not board buses that say EXPRESS). Get off at the 66th Avenue stop. The 55 will drop you off right in front of Jaisohn Center. The 22 stops at the same spot as the C bus.
Driving:
Take Broad Street to 66th Avenue. At 66th Avenue, bear to your right to get onto Old York Road. The Jaisohn Center are across the street from Wedge Medical Center. On site parking is available.
